The Transcendental Friend

Winter is coming. Build a fire. Make some smoke. Stand out in the November sun and contemplate the quandaries of life. Okay that didn't work: go back inside and read some poems by the warm and comforting light of a cathode ray tube.

Early Rumanian ("punk," as Julian Semilina wrote me in a note) poems of Tristan Tzara (trans. by J. Semilian and Sanda Agalidi) in Idiosyncratica.

Poems by Jo Ann Wasserman, Hoa Nguyen, and Nikolai Gumilev (trans. Katharine Gilbert) in Laird Hunt's Bestiary.

Andrew Levy's review of William Fuller's byt, in Daniel Machlin's Review.

Poems by Carmen Firan (trans. Isaiah Sheffer, Andrei Codrescu, and J. Semilian & Sanda Agalidi), Zhai Yongming (trans. L. Schwartz & Zhang Er), and Osvaldo Sanchez (trans. Roberto Tejada), in Leonard Schwartz's Report.
