J: (Tears welling up in his eyes) How sweet! (Announcing) We'll hold the nuptials at my castle. Now everyone head over there! (sweeping MITSY into his arms)-- except for the bride of course. I need to give her my blessings.

J : Little milkmaid, I'll make a little lady out of you. We'll be merry, then I'll marry you, come, you'll see. Little milkmaid, I'll make a little lady come out of you, so let's make merry, then we'll marry, later on, my little maid, I'll make you merry, then you can marry, now come a little, or I'll make you.   MITSY: I was about to get married, my fiancé won't be happy, it isn't nice to tempt me, a lady doesn't give in, oh! what is this tickling? Ooh! what is this tingling? Marriage might be boring. My boy can't satisfy me if I want to be a lady. A lady needn't marry. This tempting is a nice thing. My! it's good to give in!

MITSY: I want to, but I don't want to. I don't dare, but I do too. I feel good, but I'm shaking. I feel like I could die. I don't want to but I do. I'm shaking, but good. I feel like I died but I want to.   J : Put your hand here, now over here. Touch me like this, no this way. And kiss me here, now over here, no there, kiss me, now with your hand again, touch me.

That evening... At the party...

Scene: The dazzling ballroom of Landfall Castle. Several orchestras play opposing dance tunes. The milkmaids sway tipsily to the music, their white cheeks all flushed with wine. The milkmen alternately doze and rouse themselves contentedly.

Twin milkmaids, BELINDA and LIBENA minuet. J, spotting them, rushes to insinuate himself between them.

LIBENDA: Enough! You're too amenable! One kiss but make it quick! Sisters can't be done in! Two heads think better! Your kindness can't corrupt us! Even if you beat us! Quick! Seduce us! Oh! My sister! Amenable kisser! We're done for! Hurry! My sister! Or I'll beat you to him! Together we'll corrupt even this fellow-corrupter! Seductive SISTER! Once is not enough! Unless the fellow's quick! We're undone!

J : Oh my pretty! Oh my other pretty! Amenably surround me! With your beauty! Oh my beauties! You're two! Still I'm amenable! I'll kiss you each enough! I know what we all can do! Three heads are better than two! Just surround me! With your pretty! And you're pretty! With your beauty! Oh my! You're too amenable! Since you're two! Just we three can! Since you're pretty, come surround me! Two can just do what I know too!   BELINDA: Two twins, better than one, Sisters so amenable, no one can corrupt us! One kiss and we're done in! We're too quick! We'll beat you to it! Seduce us! But hurry! Hurry! My sister! Quick or he'll corrupt us! We're too amenable! Beat it or we're done for! This fellow's not amenable! With kindness he'd corrupt us! With one kiss he'd seduce us! Or beat us into corruption! Hurry! Amenable sister! Quick! You're not quick enough!

MITSY, who has been searching high and low, finds her MUSTO hidden in a corner sulking. She approaches, he turns away, she grabs his sleeve, pleading.

MITSY: Beloved! Forgive Me! I'd never desert you! The gentleman is good! He wants to back our wedding! There's no shame in that! Look! I'll let you beat me! Only don't leave me! If you're angry hit me! Shower down until I'm throbbing! Beat me 'til I burst! Your faithless anger hurts me! Beat, but don't desert me! Touch me! Take your just deserts! After, we'll be wed! Ah! use me sweetly! Feel this shower bursting! Touch my heart! How it throbs! My gentle man! I want your love! But shower me with kisses, your throbbing touching shames me! Some deserts leave for our wedding! Oh! you hurt me! Shame! My back! It throbs! Be gentle!   MUSTO: Shameless girl! Don't touch me! Leave me or I'll beat you! Feel my anger throbbing? My heart bursts! To think you were so faithless! To desert me at our wedding, then try to use your sweetness! I'll never forgive you! Go back to your gentleman! Shower him with kisses! Or any new lover! See if I care! Oh! touch me here! I'm throbbing! Feel me! I'm bursting! My heart! Don't be ashamed! After, we'll be married! Such anger makes my heart beat! And imagining you faithless! Touch me! Feel this beating! I throb! Touch me! I'm bursting! Now kiss me there! Now feel me! Oh touch this! And I burst! In a shower of sweetness!

A PRETTY MILKMAID (solo)
Out among the cows
swelling gentle milk
honey and jasmine hooves
fugitive, I kiss.
All I know is love.

Only risking danger
have I found arousal.

Imprisoned between her legs
Blessing the blows from her tail
siphoning innocent-lipped the dregs
of the golden atoms of her pail
What a joy that was!

But my vache was folle
my brain went soft
and then my limbs, all, all.
And vultures descend to pick her apart.

Oh! Gentlemen! Help!

Only risking danger
have I found arousal.
